Sodium alum, Na2SO4.Al2(SO4)3

The existence of Sodium alum, Na2SO4.Al2(SO4)3.24H2O, occasionally denied, has been proved by Wadmore and by W. R. Smith. The alum is extremely soluble in water. Several methods of preparation have been patented. Sodium alum occurs as the mineral mendozite in South America and Japan.
